Myopia

Caden has been tested with myopia last week in the routine school checkup and we brought him to the optician to get his specs done.

This is how he looks without and with specs

Craziest things I have done during this haze period

1) Air purifiers

I been googling on the functions of air purifiers and was convinced that I should invest on one given our cough history and the current hazardous conditions. I went asking for air purifiers yesterday afternoon,  after having kept myself in the house for the last  2 days. To my surprise, stores like courts, harvey norman and best denki confirmed to me that air purifiers were completely sold out islandwide. To my other surprise,  best denki called me at 7pm last night and told me stocks came back in. We went down to compass point and bought 2 of these - it was not the model that I have placed my order but I took them nonetheless.

2) Gui Lin Gao
We love eu yang sang gui lin gao so I stock them up to combat the adverse hot climate

3) Face masks
I ended up queuing for face masks tonight when I chanced upon the fact that there are stocks available in the mall the boys are having their lessons. It took me 45 mins and  the pharmacy could only sell me 2 n95 (duck shape) + 10 pieces surgical masks!

4) crazy image
I got stared by many in my office area when I was one of the rare ones who started wearing face masks on Tues in town area.

5) windows
Because both ethan and myself came down with fever on tues, we couldn't turn on the aircon for the past few nights and yet I persisted in closing almost completely shut for the past few nights.

Wonder what other crazy things I will do next. I am reacting this way, all in the name of motherhood. .

Tim Ho Wan

As we had a late breakfast this Sunday morning (term break week for Berries), we decided to try Tim Ho Wan at Plaza Sing for our lunch after piano lesson at 12 plus.

By the time we reach P.S, never did I expect that we spent almost 1.5 hours queuing to get into this restaurant to try out the all famous Michelin star dim sum menu..

The food was nice, but limited range.. nonetheless, though we ordered about 11 sets of dim sum, they were sufficient to keep us full till 7plus this evening..

Given the time needed to get into this restaurant, it is highly unlikely we will come back next time, unless the waiting time reduced to less than half an hour..

(the boys were waiting for their 2nd round of serving by playing with our gadgets)

Movie outing - City Square Mall - 7th Jun 2013

I decided to bring my boys out for a movie trip on my scheduled off last Friday to catch 'Epic' at City Square mall. It was our first time visiting this cinema (as vivo was way too far for me to travel to and fro via public transport).

The boys enjoyed the show (as usual, with popcorns) and hang out at Metro toys section for almost an hour.. I took a snapshot of Caden with the Monsters.inc characters:

When I have a chance, will change his facebook profile pic with this..

2013 LSK sports day - 19th May

We were invited to the annual LSK sports day to give some support for our dear son. He has been keeping the to-do tasks quite secretive and we were not able to fish out what he needs to do on that day.

We made it a point to reach the school earlier this year. But the crowd control traffic officer did not quite manage the queue and we ended up sitting on the second row despite being just within the top 20 range in the queue.

Anyways, I managed to get a clear view from my seat and here's what I could capture using my Note II:

Partner bounced the ball

He dribbled for a distance and bounced back to the next in queue
He entered into the next station and used a bat to hit the target which was hung on a rod

And he got it in his first attempt
He jumped over a hurdle like obstacle:

He then had to balance himself with a balancing board

And lastly did a hula loop with his partner

The sports day event ended quite early that day as there was a fund raising event scheduled. Back in his classroom, the children were doing some fund raising activities for St. Luke Hospital

With his mini-me friends..

We went round the classroom and saw our dear son being nominated by 3 classmates as their best friends

It's quite a refreshing sight for us to know that he's well-liked by his classmates. We will have one last trip back in this school at the end of the year for his graduation ceremony and year end concert.

Reading

I was on my scheduled off day on the 30th April (eve of Labour day) and Ethan happened to be resting at home due to a slight diarrhoea.

As I needed to complete some work in the morning, Ethan quietly sat beside my workstation and picked up one of the books from the book shelf and started reading to himself..

It was a comforting sight as he had not asked to play my smartphone and managed to look as though that he enjoyed reading that smurfs book..

See the expressions:

I hope that as he recognise more words at this stage, he will cultivate the love of reading..

(fingers crossed)

Caden's 8th birthday celebration with classmates

Caden's birthday falls on a Sunday this year, and for the longest time, we agreed to host a mini party on Saturday evening. I had to first help him design a birthday card for him to distribute to his classmates. Our condition to him was to limit the no of invitees to a maximum of 8 children, including himself and Ethan (so that leaves him 6 to invite!).

Although the original intention was to invite 6 of his classmates, Caden decided to include both his cousins in the party as well, despite knowing that he will only get to invite only 4 classmates. Subsequently as there were no confirmation given by 2 of his classmates' parents, we allowed him to extend the invite to another of his classmate during the week.

Somehow, the party ended up with 11 children as some of them brought their brothers along and the non-confirmed kids turned up.. although the crowd was more than what we had expected but it turned out quite manageable.

Night before, little brother helping to pack the party packs:

His happy look upon receiving his long awaited gift

With his best friend, Jesper

Cousins dropped by for an hour of play

All set for the Nerf war

Dinner time

With his all-time favourite mango cake
beloved  brother

We asked his class monitor, Elijah to take this picture for us

With all his guests, excluding Jasper and cousins as they had to leave for other appointments
His friends were singing the birthday song and brought out a very cheerful mood

After the cake cutting ceremony, the boys continued with their play and were not keen to go home.. eventually the party ended near 9pm.

Caden enjoyed himself so much that he asked for a same party to be held for his next birthday! Though a simple affair, I am sure that this party will remain strong in his memory in the future...
