Caden

Today is a very special day for all of us. I met my hubby on this day five years ago through a friend's gathering and got acquainted. Today will be Caden's last day as a baby before he celebrates his first birthday tomorrow.

The name Caden signify fighter. We decided to name our child with this name as I had a threatened abortion when I was 16 weeks pregnant with him. Thankfully, my gynae, Dr Cheng, managed to save our child's life and we get to enjoy this dear boy's company for the past one year.

Caden has brought lots of sleepless nights to us, and worries when he fell ill. However, they cannot be compared to the vast amount of laughter and joy he has brought into his Papa and Mummy's lives. To see the way he grows and develops each day is truely an experience that Papa and Mummy will get to reminisce as we grow older in future...

Papa and Mummy's birthday present

Mummy has ordered a Leapfrog learning pad for Caden as his birthday present but it didn't arrive on time as the bulk purchase order was overwhelming for the distributor to deliver. It may only arrive to Caden's hands only sometime mid May. Papa felt bad about him not receiving a birthday present from us, and decided to shop for his birthday present on Sat, a day before his party. We decided on a builders' blocks set as we felt that Caden would enjoy since he has also played with lots of zest with the Lego set at Gu Gu's house.. The opening present ceremony will be this Friday and we really hope that he will like this present from us..

Birthday Party on 23rd April 2006

Caden had his birthday celebration held today in advance to his actual birthday which falls on the 28th April, this friday. Papa and Mummy have always disliked the hassle of playing host to a big event (that's why we didn't have any wedding dinner as well). Despite this, we decided to organise a mini birthday party to keep guests to a minimal, so that Caden will not be deprived of a memory that he gets to carry in the future.

Although the guests have been kept to a minimal, Caden remained to be sticky to us throughout the party and only allowed people that he is familiar with to be carried. He played with some of the younger children and also had some"fight" (over the toys) with Aidan gor gor..

With good buddy, brother Aidan, snatching over toys..

with Kelly mei mei who still doesn't know how to play with Caden as yet..

We were quite happy with his birthday cake from Ecreative. And Caden has a chance to be sang another round of the birthday song and candle blowing..

Happy birthday boy..

We hardly have any photo taken together, finally today we have ample opportunities to pose together

First birthday present

Caden has received his first birthday present before his party tomorrow. Gu Gu has bought him a tricycle for his stroll in the mornings and evenings at the park. It was a very practical gift for him as we have been thinking of buying one for him recently as well. We decided to let him enjoy this present today before his birthday.

Caden's first birthday cake

Today is Caden's chinese birthday, he was born on the chinese calendar, 3rd month and 20th day. We have discussed about whether to celebrate today for his chinese birthday and decided to go ahead with buying him a cake, though his birthday party will be held this coming sunday.

Mummy only managed to get to shop for Caden's cake after work, and got one from the Jack's Place. He was so amazed by the little candle on the cake and kept smiling when we sang the birthday song at his GuGu's house tonight.

Simple instructions

It is just another 2 more weeks Caden will turn into 1 year old.. he has developed quite a fair bit mentally as he has proven to us to understand the instructions that we have given to him. For the past one month, we have been talking to him in short simple sentences frequently and now he seems to be able to decipher what we needed him to do.. so far, he is able to understand and perform the following :

- bring the book to Papa,
- come, sit on my tummy and play horse horse (rocking horse)
- switch off the lights
- wash your hands.. etc

During this long easter holiday, we stayed mostly at home as the rain spells continue and even disturbed his usual afternoon naps as the thunder is simply terrifying. The only activity at home is to walk and play around and doing some flashing of cards to him.

Standing by one of his favourite spots at home, at the windows, screaming together with thunderstorm, wondering why aren't there any basketball players that evening..

First Easter Holidays

My hubby and myself are non-religious couple but nontheless, this is one of my favorite holidays of the year as it always spells long weekend for me, due to the Good Friday holiday. In anticipation of this long weekend, I have arranged with Winnie and asked her to bring Aidan out for a catch up session with Caden for these 2 buddies to have some bonding time..

Both Caden and Aidan have behaved well during the lunch session until Aidan started to become restless and hitting onto his table. Caden seems to have observed this big Aidan's mischief and also started to be restless in a very short while. Caden has since learnt this trick from Aidan and started to do it almost for the next consecutive meals at home.

Standard Chartered Singapore Sevens

I have managed to get 2 complimentary tickets from my bank to the Singapore Sevens Rugby tournament for today as I wanted to bring Caden along to soak into a live match atmosphere. The tickets cost SGD42 per pax, and we were happy that we have these 2 free tickets.

Our dear boy fell asleep on our way to the national stadium and he was still sleeping even when Papa carried him off from the car seat. He was subsequent being woken up by the loud announcements made for the results of the current game and the music played during the break.
Sleeping comfortably in Papa's chest:

We were also given 2 goodie bags on top of the tickets and Caden was happily playing with the small rugby ball during the games.. that certainly has helped to keep him occupied.. Papa has to bring Caden closer to the field area so that he is able to see the ongoing match. It was quite an experience for all of us, especially for me, as I have long since watched a live match, let alone this is a rugby tournament.. Caden has also responded well to all the cheers and even clapped with the rest of the audience ..
