Bad viral infection

We have been so tired since the last weekend. Ethan for no reason had an eye infection since 18th June which multiply from 1 to 3 in 5 days. And he did not heal well as he resisted to the application of eye cream prescribed by our pedi. Last Friday, Ethan developed into high fever, and we had to visit another pedi near our place cos Dr Sim was away on holiday. She gave us antibiotics as she suspected that it's a kind of virus that is causing both eye and fever at the same time since no one in the house is sick at this point. The fever hovered at 39-40deg consistently from Friday till Sun and only subsided yesterday night..

It's just one of the rare occasions that we had to go through this agony.. the last big thing I can recall doing the sponging was probably on Caden (which I believe recur more often than Ethan)..

Ethan is now plagued with cough and running nose when fever is finally gone.. these few nights, we were haunted with his loud snores!

Happy Father's Day

This morning, we planned a trip out to East Coast Park for the boys to cycle their bikes (since the home ground was getting a bit bored for them). After breakfast at Mac's, we started their cycling routine. Ethan was still stubborn not to let us teach him the correct way of cycling and was doing a half-circle cycle throughout, so he couldn't go too fast. Caden was cycling as usual quickly at his pace and complaint that he was tired after a while.

That was then we decided to rent 2 bikes with child seats attached to the back and Mummy and PaPa had to ferry each one of them. I was quite nervous abt ferrying Ethan as he didn't have any helmet on and he is quite small and it has been a long time since I last cycled. But I managed to balance without any problem after getting the hang of the bike. We cycled for a total of 1 hr only (although the rental can last us for 2 hrs) cos Ethan told me that he wanted to go home, probably the sun was too hot as we started out late today at East Coast. Given the weight, I don't think I can ferry Ethan for long, at most for another 1.5 years. Hopefully by then, Caden would have been able to cycle on 2 wheels and be on his own while PaPa takes over the heavier load of Ethan as he grows bigger.

This also marks the end of the series of events that we had spent with our boys consectively for 4 days during this school holidays. Hopefully we can do something longer term in Nov/Dec break period.

Posting from PaPa:

Pa Pa had a good time ferrying Caden. A little bit worried about my wife as she doesn't look that steady. But in the end, we cycled slowly and everything turned out ok. Think we should do this more often. Should let Caden ride on 2 wheels soon.

Toy Story 3

Mummy booked 3 tickets for all of us to watch the 3-D Toy Story 3 movie today at GV Marina via her bank's recreation club offer (priced at $7 while the original price is $14).

This is Ethan's maiden movie and our first 3-D show (conincidentally Caden's virgin movie also happened when he was 2 yrs and 8 months old - Alvin and the Chipmunks). We were fairly nervous that he may not be able to stay long enough or be able to focus through the show, coupled with the need to wear the 3-D specs. But surprisingly, Ethan has managed to stay still throught the whole show except for a part where the toys were in the fire dump.

The movie was so interesting and heartwarming for Ethan to feel afraid on the scenes played. He didn't show any signs of fear when the lights were dimmed. So the verdict now is we can watch movies together as a family going forward!

Caden's all-time favourite: Buzz Lightyear

Ben10 Alien Force Meet and Greet

Finally, we have taken time off to bring Caden and Ethan for one live show during this school holidays. Our intention is to watch Ben 10 live show yesterday at United Sq and go to the beach in Sentosa today for a swim and sand playing. But Caden came down with a bad stomach flu since Wed and had to stay at home yesterday. Today Caden seems a bit better so we decided to go out for a short while to fulfill our promise to him.

He got himself a chromostone lego set which costs 29.90 and PaPa topped up with a water gun at Toys R Us to chalk up a $30 bill for the children to take a picture with Ben10 and group after the show. It wasn't too crowded today and we manage to exchange for the photo pass (limited to 40 passes per session).

queuing for photo passes

Caden was all excited and didn't have too much appetite to eat his lunch. He was so keen to get to the queue in front so that he could get the best seats. PaPa got him to join the queue himself first while we continue with our lunch (of which queue is still within our sight).

We got into the show area about 20 minutes before the start and Mummy asked Caden to sit somewhere in the centre as we had bad experience last year sitting near the speakers.

The grand stage

Caden looked a bit tired (prob still feel quite unwell)

Ethan was frozen with fear when Vilgax appeared, and subsequently told me that he was scared, scared, after many fighting scenes on the stage, especially when the 2 Vilgax fighters fell near the stage front making scary sounds

This is the villian - Vilgax

the fight begins

This is the $30 photo pass that we got, Ethan backed out last min as he was too afraid to stand near the 2 villians

Before we left United Sq, we bumped into Buzz Lightyear and the 2 boys took picture in it

Kids at Work in SCB

This year, I signed up Caden only for our annual kids at work event. For the first time, Caden started the day straight in the morning at work with me. I brought him to the SMU building for a heavy breakfast first and Caden was jittery as he stepped into the office premises. He was prompted to call my colleagues Auntie and Uncle as they come to see him (or happen to pop by). And today was also the day that we actually had a birthday celebration for our CFO, Andrew Bester in office as he just returned from the Korea trip.

At the birthday celebration - where Mummy literally left Caden there alone at the center spot while she continues with the work at her workstation (Photos taken by Aries)

A group picture of all the children with the birthday man in his South Africa soccer jersey as World Cup tournament opens today (Andrew Bester, Melissa and Reuben)

The children were kept busy with Melissa's PSP after the birthday celebration when the mummies continue to be busy with work before we went off to Asian Civilisation Museum (ACM) for more activities

At ACM, we had our hands busy with beads and eco bag painting

Our day ended after the eco bag painting and I brought Caden to Suntec to meet his PaPa who wanted to go to IT show to grab some stuff. Caden was dead tired by the time we reached home at night and even vomitted after his milk feed. I think it's probably because he got too over-stimulated during the day.

A visit to PaPa's office

Last sat we decided to dine out at Caden's fav place at Ding Tai Fung to break away from the usual weekend routine at home. I was telling ah lou that Raffles City had some interesting performance ongoing when I was there for a short trip at Friday night and we decided to bring the kids out to have a slightly different weekend night.

After dinner at DTF, we were entertained by a juggling show at the water fountain near Out of the Pan and both Caden and Ethan were fully amazed with the skills this juggler has. After the performance, we brought the boys to the toys dept at robinsons and got them a set of Toy Story puzzles to play (and considered as an educational toy to me).

PaPa has to go back to his office for a short trip to double check on his work so we tagged along for the first time to visit his work place. Luckily the security was kind enough to let me and the boys to go up with PaPa for a short while, otherwise, I will be left alone with the boys at the lobby (not knowing how to keep them entertained while waiting for ah lou).

The boys were happily settled at PaPa's workstation with his blank papers and I got them to start drawing pictures to give PaPa as a gift for Father's Day. So they are quite obedient and Caden was motivated to do a good drawing for his father which should eventually be pinned up at PaPa's workstation.
