Ethan started to creep again today out of the blue which reminds me how he was like when he was a baby. And he enjoyed doing this as we are enjoying the F1 race on TV!

Enjoying oranges

Ethan's favourite fruit has to be oranges. He will shout for it each time he sees oranges being served after dinner and spent long time sucking out its juices!

Favourite food #2

Ethan's 2nd favorite fruit has to be raisins! He will ask for it everytime he sees us in the house and we need to stock up mini packets of raisins to keep his appetite filled!

Bacteria Infection

Ethan has strangely got a rare bacteria infection on his body which resulted in a really rotten state on his elbow and wrist. PaPa and Mummy thought it was just a bad blister initially and kept asking Grandma and maid if they were aware that Ethan has touched any hot stuff which resulted in that blister

The blister subsequently got deteriorated and spreaded into a big infected area on Ethan's elbow. As it happened over the long weekend on National Day, PaPa and Mummy didn't think it was too serious and left it unhealed over that 3 long days with awful pus.

When we brought the poor lil fellow to Dr Sim on Tues morning, Dr Sim told us that we should have brought him to A&E on Sat/Sun before that was spread to other parts of the body. Nontheless, it was a lesson learnt and it took Ethan abt 2 weeks to have this wound recovered (ex-pigmentation, which I think probably takes abt a few months to fade)

This is how bad it was:
the new spots on his face which haven't turn into the rotten stage

Good Mummy, Bad Mummy

Lately I caught a taiwanese talk show which featured celebrities mummies and their discipline methods. One Mummy demonstrated the difference between speaking to a child (4-5yr old) in a nice manner and communicating the same message using different choice of words in a authorative manner.

It was apparent that the child was more receptive and behaved more obediently when the 'Good Mummy' role was being played. That child's expression totally changed and broke into tears when the 'Bad Mummy' was exercised. The bad mummy seems to speak in the same manner that my ah lou and even myself had done to Caden - e.g go and finish up all your lunch or else no tv. Eat in the kitchen before you can continue to play. When i say no more sweets, means no.

More often, this made Caden got frustrated as he couldn't get his way and broke into loud tears and whined when we do not give in to him. And as he cried louder, my ah lou and myself often run into less patience and takes the cane as the weapon.

I realised the difference in a child's behaviour if a Good Mummy has been played. For the past 2 days, before i raised my voice to scold Caden again, I would ask him, do you want a Mummy who scolds you and canes you or do you want a Mummy who loves you. Sometimes this works if Caden is not too agitated yet, sometimes it doesn't.

Again, I think it is really hard to be a good parent and instill good morals into them. The last few late nights in office didn't really helped me to have too high the patience when Caden fussed on Sat morning, so I had caned him for his misbehaviour.

I hope to learn to be a Good Mummy which is going to be a tough task.

Parents Teacher Meeting

Yesterday, Caden's LSK form teachers popped by our home at 9pm to conduct a Parents teachers meeting (PTM). My ah lou and myself were fairly anxious and concerned with this trip as they insisted doing a home visit instead of us making a trip down to Caden's school.

We thought Caden must be one of the more problematic children in school hence the form teachers are curious to know his home environment in order to provide the parents better advice in terms of discipline.

But to our surprise, both Mrs May Low and Miss Adeline Chua sang praises for our little boy. They commented that Caden is a well-behaved boy in school and considered to be rated as above-average in terms of academic as he usually understands what the teachers teach and can answer to all their questions. In fact, he is so well-behaved that the teachers told us that they didn't know what to talk abt for Caden since there isn't much negative feedback for them to update us.

We were relieved, of course.

Since this is a formal PTM for Caden as he started his N2 (going to K1 next year), we have been concerned with his progress and social skills in school. The teachers commented that Caden has opened himself up in term 2 and has shown interest in his classmates and been fairly chatty.

Although he is a tyrant at home, we were glad that he has behaved and conducted himself well in his school. Both teachers advised us to take it easy for him and not to exert too much pressure in terms of academic since he is only 4 yrs old and let him enjoy his childhood as much as possible. This is with the view that Caden has displayed a certain level of intelligence in class which has been considered above the pack.

As parents, we are Happy.

So tonight, Mummy did not enforce a story session and let him had the freedom to do free play before his bedtime.

Fishes

Caden went to Kids Kampong at Pasir Ris with his nursery class on Wed and brought home a big bag of fishes which he caught from the pond. There were a total of 20 over fishes and both Ethan and Caden were delighted with their new-found pets in the house.

Their fav pastimes in the last few days were of cos watching the fishes which swim in the little fish tank borrowed from Ah Gu and watching PaPa changing the water each day. They like to feed the fishes during the change of water and Ethan screamed with delight when he sees them swim in the clear water.

Sad enough, all the fishes did not last till today. All had passed off peacefully one by one over the last few days with the last batch on today - as correctly speculated by Uncle SK

Mummy's birthday

We celebrated Mummy's birthday which happened to fall on a Sunday (hence no requirement to take leave)

This year, my ah lou bought me a Gucci wallet, cos the current Burberry limited edition has been tearing apart. As usual, Mummy has been tasked to select her own present so my hubby can happily pay without going through the agony of seeing his wifey's disappointed face for his choice of present!

Actually we wanted to bring the kids to the airport to watch the airplanes at the viewing gallery but the T2 one was closed for reno. So we only spent the time there eating Caden's fav food xiao long bao at Crystal Jade house.

We got ourselves an ice-cream cake (again!) for the sake of the 2 little hunkies and they had a good time blowing candles twice on my cake!!
Actually, my ah lou bought me a present this year which is supposed to be a surprise, and it turned out to be a jewellery box from hallmark with a mirror attached. Mummy still cannot figure out where to place this item in the place and it is still being kept in the gift box!
