Day 3 at school

Today's is PaPa's turn to send Caden to school for his 3rd day - the plan was to left him alone there right from the start at 8am till 1pm. PaPa instantly had his share of heartbreaking moments when Caden was carried away by the teacher the moment he reached the centre. Caden was crying very badly, calling out "PaPa, PaPa" and it lasted for an hour till 9am when his form teacher arrived. He became settled down as they started the session with art painting (which is his favorite activity in Zoophonics). After which, they were out in the park for a short walk round the playground and housing estate. But once the walk was over, Caden started crying again, but this time it was becos he didn't want to return back to the centre (he still wants to loiter outside).. Shortly, he settled down again and finished his whole bowl of lunch. PaPa didn't know what happened subsequently from 1130 to 1pm as he needs to go back home to settle some urgent errands. However, when he return the centre at 1245pm, he saw Caden sitting quietly with teacher Hayani waiting for them to fetch him.

Tomorrow, both PaPa and myself will be off to work, it will be Grandma's turn to bring Caden to school, I wonder if things will improve by tomorrow..

Caden's 1st and 2nd day in Childcare Centre

We have started Caden in a 5-hr playgroup class near our home since Monday this week and was pretty comfortable that he will adapt quick and well enough since we have been exposing him to weekend enrichment classes since he was 8 months old.

I have taken 2 days off to settle him in the BrightKids School House. On day 1, Caden's Grandma and cousin Kimi tagged along as Grandma wanted to have a look at the environment. Caden was all excited when he first stepped into the centre (with some children already singing along with the teacher). I realised much later that it was becos of Kimi's presence that Caden was able to settle so quickly. After Grandma and Kimi left, Caden was super sticky to me. Kept holding my hand wherever the activity happened. I accompanied him the whole 4-hr session till 12noon and brought him home. The teacher suggested that I need to break bond the next day by 10am in order for her to build up the rapport with Caden quickly.

Today (Day 2) was horrendous. I had to leave the centre for a while to park the stroller in the opp room for infants. Caden waas crying badly when the teacher carried him away as I leave. He was later settled down by the time I walked back into the centre (which was at most 4mins time taken). He wasn't paying any attention during story-telling, walking around and climbing up the kiddy tables and chairs despite me being around him in the morning. At 10am, when they moved on to play-time, I quietly sneaked out of the room once again, and Caden soon realised my absence, started to cry, asking for me.. In the end, he cried from 10 to 1120am, with intermittent stops, but I realised that his school uniform has been changed which means he has already cried till he vomitted.

I decided to bring him back home at 1130am becos he ended up sleeping in teacher's arms after constant crying and whining for me.. and when we are back home, he was back in his chirpy mood..

PaPa is going to have his heart-breaking time tomorrow when it is his turn to send him to the centre and checks on him from outside...

Ethan @ 33 weeks

Today we had another round of visit at Dr Cheng. Lil' Ethan is now weighing 1.985kg @33 weeks, and mummy had finally put on 5 kg to date.. Jenny (the clinic assistant) has helped to count the dates for C-section delivery, it will be from 19-23 Oct (PaPa and Mummy suppose to choose and get back on this).. Not sure if we should look at the chinese calendar to see which is the auspicious date.. etc..

Anyway, we have continued to shop again after the gynae's appt, got many many packs of Tollijoy wet wipes from John Little sale @20% which were a steal! But we couldn't find shoes for Caden again today as the Marina Sq one doesn't carry Colette..

Sleepless in Punggol

Our lil Caden has been waking both of us up for the past few nights to make 2 of us join him in his room to sleep together with him.. sometimes, it was @ 2am, 3am or 5am.. both of us as a result have been having sleepless nites lately. PaPa is able to adapt to his room very well and will usually doze off shortly.. for me, I will always wait for Caden to settle down again, and fall back into sleep before moving back to my bedroom for my comfort bed... Hopefully with the end of lunar's seventh moon, his sleeping patterns will revert back to normal!

Bargains

Mummy has been busy scouting around for bargains in preparation of Ethan's arrival lately. In the Singapore Motherhood forum, she has managed to get the following:

1) a brand new tollijoy food warmer @$16 (original - $33.90)
2) 2nd hand Combi stroller - very good condition @ $140 (original - $252)
3) New packets of S size Pampers, Drypers and Pureen @25 for a total of 188 pieces of diapers (original px $49)
4) Friso Gold 1 - $20 (in case not enough breast milk)

Now still scouting for more diapers and Brands essence of chicken. Frankly we have saved quite alot on the above, although Ethan is our second child, items 1 and 2 were bought cos the ones that we have used were spoilt while being lent.

Finally today, we have also signed up at StemCord to keep the cord blood from Ethan - again, thankfully, this month they are running a promotion to provide a discount of $300 on registration fees (luckily we were delayed by tiredness earlier to get this settled). Got the kit from the medical centre today for the Gynae to keep the blood during the delivery. It suddenly dawned on Mummy that her big day is really approaching. Lately she has been hearing lotsa news of mummies giving birth way early from the EDD.. and Mummy's tummy also feels very tight and incomfortable.. hopefully she is able to sustain till mid-Oct for her staff in the Bank and baby's development as well..

Mummy next tasks are to keep a look out for baby's rompers (Caden's ones were loose liao), pack the hospital bag (err.. what to put in there ???), keep healthy, try to take more leave to rest..etc..
