Happy 2nd Birthday!

Lilypie 2nd Birthday Ticker

Today is Caden's 2nd birthday but we choose to celebrate in low profile because Mummy is still suffering from low energy level to hold a birthday party for him. This morning we woke up with slight rain which almost cancelled our plans to bring Caden to the Zoo. However, the rain seems to have stopped abt 9plus in the morning and we decided to proceed with our plans.

Mummy wasn't feeling too well in the morning from excessive vomitting but she decided to go ahead in order not to disrupt the mini reward for Caden. I was thinking that I could take short rest at each bench I came across with which may help. Caden has grown to appreciate the animals during this trip and even pronounced the words elephant and deer pretty well when he saw them (he learnt it through the zoophonics classes). He was very excited when he saw the hippo swimming in the pool and the elephant posing for photoshoots. He also constantly alerted us to see the monkeys whenever he come across the posters.. but because Mummy couldn't sustain any longer after a 3 hour period in the zoo, we had to leave despite not covering the 2nd half of the zoo.. hopefully I am able to make up for the loss before I give birth to my second baby. PaPa is very tired through carrying Caden throughout the whole trip and carrying a 5kg weight of haversack on his back!

This evening, we continued our celebration by inviting Samuel and Kimi to our place to sing birthday song and blow the birthday cake for their youngest cousin. Caden was so happy to see the CARS birthday cake which we got from Swensons and kept touching the picture on the cake when adults are not watching! This amused Samuel pretty much cos he knows that his little cousin shouldn't be doing this!

Waiting for PaPa to light up the candles:

Sentosa Trip

,

We went on a 3 day 2 nights sentosa getaway to spend more time with Caden prior to his birthday on Saturday. Mummy doesn't usually have such opportunity to clear leave in a stretch of more than 2 days and took them when chances arise. We wanted to stay back in Rasa Sentosa Resort because we simply love the place when we stayed back in Nov. However, because we didn't book the hotel on time, in the end we had to settle for Siloso Beach Resort which was just opened in Aug06, still undergoing partial renovation, charges at $300 but giving promotional rate at $190 for now

The resort seems more suitable for couples rather than families with children because the swimming pool doesn't cater for children at all.. and the hotel facilities was minimal, room is smaller, overall, the view is nice but we would prefer to go back to Rasa again if we would want to hang out at Sentosa in future (cos their service is much much better too).

We spent lotsa time on the island, despite on Thursday morning when the rain hindered our plans to hop more parts of the island.. we brought Caden to the Animal Show, on the beach for play and dinner, Songs of the Sea(a new water fountain attraction), swimming by the pool, and beach, beach, beach... He doesn't like to feeling of standing on the sand and even when the sand touches his feet or hand, he will vigorously sweep them off.. to the extent of if he has difficulty doing that, he will complain to me and ask me to help him!

Waiting to watch the Animal show

At the beach chilling out..

At Songs of the Sea Podium, Caden was engrossed in the show.

We were glad that we have spent these 3 days exclusively with him on the little island, as mummy is preparing for the second baby and PaPa is also starting his new job next week. Hopefully we will still get to spend such qualitative time with him in weeks to come.

Pre-birthday celebration

We had a early birthday celebration for Caden on Sat evening at Changi Airport Swenson's for a dinner and ice-cream feast. Caden was quite cooperative with us during our dinner but he didn't eat much from my fish and chips meal. However, when ice-cream was served, he anxiously kept asking for a second mouthful right after we fed him with a mouthful!!

Love thy sibling

I have been trying to get Caden prepared for the arrival of his little sibling for the past few weeks. We try to get him stare at the monitor to look out for our baby 2 when we go for our gynae visits. Caden seems to know and now learns to say "hello baby" by waving his hand at my tummy and learning to kiss at my tummy when asked to. Thankfully, my close friends are all going to deliver their babies before mine (in fact one of them has gone through her no.2) and we can take the opportunity to show him the newborns to prepare him even more. I am now currently into week 11 of my pregnancy and baby has been measured to be 4.9cm. I haven't been gaining weight yet (in fact lost 1 kg) cos like my first pregnancy, I have not been taking in the food well. My tummy has significantly grown and shown cos my uterus has expanded now to accomodate the growing foetus. We have finally stop all the injections on sat and Dr Cheng will continue to put me on a close watch to ensure I have a smooth journey for the next 6 months.

My Cars collection

Caden spent quite a fair bit of time arranging these cars on his study table this evening. Later we realised that he was actually trying to mimic the way they look like in his CARS sticker book!

ABC song

Caden simply loves his LeapFrog leap pad nowadays and demands its company each night before he sleeps. He has learnt how to switch on that leap pad, interactively playing with the pages, repeating each word after the leap pad (only on those words he likes - e.g. car, robot, super star, etc). In the leap pad, there are a number of pages in the book that play the ABC song on one of the icons which he loves to press. Hence, as a result, after 1.5 weeks of interactive play on the leap pad, this morning, Caden suddenly sang the ABC song to me! !

I was so surprised with his progress and got him to repeat the song again to PaPa after his morning shower. And he sang it in tune again (except for some missing alphabets in between the song). This evening when we returned home from work, we got him to sing for Grandma, and he got it quite accurately. Hopefully after another week with the leap pad, he will get to learn the complete set alphabets through the song...

Caden's new LEGO set

We finally made time and effort to Tampines mall to shop for Caden's birthday present on Friday (Good Friday holiday). We chose a LEGO set for him because he has always shown interest in GuGu's house fixing up the pieces from Cousin Samuel's lego set. On top of the LEGO set, we chose a kitchen cooking set for him as a present as well because he simply loves to dig our all my containers which are kept in my kitchen cabinet and play imaginative cooking each time!

Since we cannot wait to see his happiness to be displayed with the new toys, we decided to allow him to open up the Lego set to enjoy during this long weekend holidays. See how engrossed he was with fixing up his own building..

Baby 2

We went for our weekly gynae checkup yesterday and continued with my treatment to stabilise the pregnancy. When Dr Cheng was scanning baby 2, we finally saw that the foetus has grown much bigger, at 4.1cm, with hands developed and swinging vigorously as the scan was happening! Baby 2 is 10 weeks old and mummy only need to persevere for another 2 weeks before the treatment comes to a stop.. let's hope baby 2 will continue to grow healthily in mummy's tummy.
