Holding Hands

Caden has started to learn how to communicate with us through holding our hands. Since last weekend mornings, he will hold our hands to bring us to the toilet and say "bong bong" (meaning he wants to be bathed).. he will hold our hands to lead us to his toy area.. bring us to play his balls.. bring us to retrieve some books which are kept out of his reach.. My mother-in-law also commented that every evening, he will hold her hands to ask her to switch on the tv for him to watch, as he climbed up to the sofa to get ready for the programmes.. I wonder when will he stop communicating with us via this mode as this is sometimes quite heart-warming for us to feel..

BJG class development

We have started Caden back on BJG classes this term and have completed 6 lessons thus far. He has proven to make some progress walking on the balancing beam, making efforts to coordinate with somersaults, ability to pick up the right cards during the memory game and picture sessions (PaPa is still debating that this is by luck, not by his capability). Although the fees are not cheap, but we decided to continue him with another term once Caden finishes his 10 lessons, as this is also an opportunity for him to interact with toddlers of his age group. Currently, there is another boy in the class, Caleb, who has together with Caden are the "partners in crime". They like to open the teacher's drawers which kept all the toys, opening the curtains to peek through the connecting classroom, etc. And his girlfriend, Ashley is also still with BJG..

MMR Vaccination

We brought Caden on tuesday night for his MMR vaccination which was past overdue for almost a month as he was down with persisting running nose when he turned 15th month old. Mummy had also wanted to time this vaccination such that if fever develops, it will probably be over this weekend since all her friends told her that this vaccine will cause fever in only 3-5 days time lapse.

Dr Sim was very impressed with his capability of understanding our instructions in his work room as we told Caden to keep all the toys that he has taken off the play table. Subsequently when Dr Sim inject on Caden's arm, he has only struggled a bit, being held tightly by PaPa. Caden even looked at how the needle got poked into his arm as Mummy failed to distract him. He was braved enough not to shed any tears and was back at his own self playing around the clinic after the jab. Dr Sim commented that he is a brave boy..

True enough, over this weekend, fever came on and yesterday it went as high as 38.8, as this is the first time in Caden's life to have such high fever. He even came down with running nose and bad cough these 2 days which made it worse.. Today we just realised there is a small bump/lump at his right neck area.. hopefully it is nothing serious.. but we'll be seeing Dr Sim tomorrow to check it out..

Click

We have recently watched the movie Click, starring Adam Sandler as a family man who practise no work-life balance. After the show, Mummy is so guilty of herself for not devoting time to Caden and Daddy for the past 2 weeks as she was totally drained out by work since she has to carry on work for almost 2.5headcounts capacity.. Papa also seems to be quite guilty of himself for not spending quality time with Caden as he loves to glue his eyes on TV most of the times.. so it was a very good show as it has knocked some sense into us and we had this feeling of rushing home to hug Caden almost immediately.. I promise to make more time for my son going fwd, no matter how tired I am..

Caden winding down his day with his usual night story and milk feed, something that I have been missing out for the past few weeks..

Singapore Zoological Gardens

We brought Caden to the Zoo today after his first trip almost 6 months back. He had enjoyed himself better this time round. We first hit to the sea lion show at 1030am, Caden was totally engrossed throughout the show and pointed to the sea lion on some moments. Thereafter, we headed towards the animal world (where smaller animals are showcased for kids). We saw some ponies, miniature horses, cows, rabbits, guinea pigs. Caden enjoyed touching the guinea pigs and the ponies, would even drag us back to the ponies area to see them again, even after we left.. We caught the animal friends show at 1230pm, where the trained dogs, cats and even mice performed some stunts.. Caden was so amazed by one of the frisbee stunt made by a dog as he chuckled with laughter.. Most of the times, we saw lots of different species of monkeys and spent some time showing Caden how they swang from tree to tree.. As time passed quickly, we had to bid farwell to the zoo once again as Caden was fully exhausted by 1pm in the afternoon..

We hope to come back to the zoo once again and be able to show Caden more animals next time..

Touching the ponies with the help from PaPa, excited after he has done so..

My first quiet corner

Mummy has started to enforce her disciplinary actions on Caden on Monday evening when Papa and Mummy returned home from work. Kimi first got punished by Uncle SK as she had bitten Caden on his hand while fighting over toys in the early evening. Uncle SK put Kimi jie jie in the quiet corner as she cried all the way till she was 'released'.. Thereafter, Caden's grandma commented that Caden has also bitten her in the afternoon till it wound turned blue-black. Mummy under the advice of Peggy Gu-Gu and Uncle SK to start disciplining Caden at this age as he has learnt how to understand us.

When I told Caden about Grandma's wound and said that it was a wrong thing to do and I need to punish him by putting him to the quiet corner. Immediately he burst into tears and refused to stand there. After 3 attempts, he finally stood still in the quiet corner crying continuously as well. Everyone in the house were not allowed to look at him and even PaPa. I asked Papa whether to release him after 2mins, he said wait for another min. By the time we asked him to come out, he was already choking on his tears, in the end, he vomited some of his dinner out..

Hopefully he learns his lesson and get to understand better in future what is right and wrong when we tell him..

Pay attention to meee!

Caden thrives on our attention, as he is starting to communicate recently via screaming at the top of his voice, talking in his own language to us continuously. Yesterday, he surprised us by telling us that he wants to be "bao bao" (carried) and showed us the place in which he wants to go. One case in point was he was playing with his ball in the living room but when the ball got thrown into the bedroom areas, he will be too afraid to retrieve it himself. Hence, he wanted us to accompany him to the room to get his ball. Towards the later part of the night, he has actually led me into our bedroom and indicated that he wants to take a rest on the bed. We took the cue that he wanted to sleep for the night.. its quite a big milestone for him to communicate to us in this way..
