Hong Kong Trip Day 1 28-29th May

As Mummy becomes officially unemployed starting 28th May, we decided to take a short getaway to Hong Kong to bring the boys to the Disneyland to kick start their school holidays as well.

Our departure flight to HK was scheduled at 2pm on the 28th May. As the time required to fly over to HK takes only 3.5hours, we were not too worried about taking the budget airline (without in-flight entertainment) as the children can take the opportunity to sleep through the flight.

Caden and Ethan were excited with the trip the night before and helped to remind us to bring their personal belongings for the trip. Since we have taken the budget airline, we had to make our way to the plane directly at the budget terminal - my first time there and was fairly shocked with the lack of amenities offered in the terminal.

The boys were waiting in the queue at the boarding gate

It costs us HKD130 per adult and HKD65 per child (3-11 years) to take the airport shuttle which brings us directly from airport to the hotel (cheaper than taxi and more convenient than taking airport express since we have children and luggage).

We only reached our Kowloon hotel (Tsim Sha Tsui) at about 830pm and made our way to Silvercord to Ding Tai Fung. But to our surprise, the queue was still long (probably it's a Sat night) and we ended up eating at Food Republic (same as SG's Food Republic) at the basement as that place offers the fastest way to get our dinner at that timing. As we managed to finish our meals fairly quickly on that night, we had some time in H&M and Mummy completed her first round of shopping within an hour :)Caden and Ethan had inherited Mummy's love of shopping and had each chosen a t-shirt for themselves and asked us to get for them.

On the 2nd day, we hit out a dim sum restaurant for our breakfast and Caden enjoyed eating their egg tarts the most. We proceed to take the Star Ferry and it was the first time the boys had taken a boat ride and they were very excited as we queue up to buy the tickets.

These tokens were dispensed from the machine which were used to admit us to the ferry gantry. To me, they looked like mahjong money!

It was a hazy day!

The boys were initially terrified and sat away from the edge of the ferry. As the journey started, the boys gradually got used to the boat ride and moved nearer to the side and enjoyed the sea breeze and the sightseeing. They liked the ride alot and asked to do another round. We told them that we will try to take the ferry during the night if time permits so they can get to see the night scene.

We took a bus from Wan Chai to Causewaybay as Mummy was keen to cover Island Beverly (local designers' stores). Sogo was having their annual thankful week event (big sale) and the crowd in Causewaybay on a Sunday was horrid! We saw many queues around the roads as there were many freebie giveaways happening.

In Winsor House where we found Toys r Us

We bought the Octopus cards to ride on their MTR as we wanted to do away with the inconvenience of finding small change to buy single trip tickets(both Caden and Ethan were wearing their Green Lantern and Mcqueen Car t-shirts which they bought the night before).

We decided to give a shot and had our dinner at DTF in Silvercord. They have more variety on their menu and Caden was really happy to eat his fav xiao long baos on that night.

The boys favorite activity in the hotel room each morning and night!
